Built more than three hours from the city, Ramez Underground required an entire production world to be created in the desert, including an above-ground mini-city and a seven-metre-deep engineered environment beneath the sand. The production incorporated a quicksand pool, custom car lift, underground control rooms, ventilation, tunnels, remote automation and specially built semi-amphibious vehicles, turning the location itself into one of the central mechanisms of the 30-episode television format.
